15 Schools Receive Grants for AI Education

Dell Technologies and Intel have collaborated with the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to award 15 grants – valued at $40,000 each – to community colleges across the country to help grow the artificial intelligence (AI) workforce.

The use of AI has grown increasingly popular across many industries in both the public and private sectors globally. And because of its growing popularity on a global scale, developing the AI workforce in the United States is critical. As part of the push to expand the AI workforce, Dell Technologies – in partnership with Intel – has committed to help prepare more people to join the digital economy workforce.

The grants will enable the winning schools to build AI labs that will provide students with more access to AI tools and resources. The schools that were awarded grants are:

  • Austin Community College, Texas;
  • BridgeValley CTC, West Virginia;
  • Broward College, Florida;
  • Edmonds College, Washington;
  • Grand Rapids Community College, Michigan
  • Houston Community College/Houston Community College Foundation, Texas;
  • Howard Community College, Maryland;
  • Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Mississippi;
  • Ocean County College, New Jersey;
  • Rockland Community College, New York;
  • Southeast Community College, Nebraska;
  • Stark State College, Ohio;
  • Tulsa Community College, Oklahoma;
  • Umpqua Community College, Oregon; and
  • Wayne Community College, North Carolina.

In addition to the funding opportunity, all schools that applied for a grant – including those that didn’t receive funding – will become part of the AI Incubator Network.

The network – launched by AACC, Dell Technologies, and Intel earlier this year – is an innovative 18-month initiative to design and build AI labs across the country by utilizing the expertise and industry connections of America’s community college system.

Currently, there are 70 schools across 32 states participating in the AI Incubator Network.
